    Complete set in three volumes. Original green cloth binding with gilt titles and decorations.

     

    Some minor overall wear. All plates in excellent condition.

     

    First Edition of a complete set what is often considered to be the most beautiful body of work on cacti. With its vibrant and illustrious plates, this very rare copy of Blühende Kakteen is a truly comprehensive look on the many cactus plants of Central and South America.

     

    Iconographia Cactacearum was originally published by the German Cactus Society in 45 booklets from 1900 to 1921 – 4 plates in each. Karl Schumann edited the first 12 issues, Max Gürke the following 20 and Friedrich Vaupel the remaining 13. The illustrations are by Toni Gürke, wife of M. Gürke.
