Ärkeläkaren Evert Julius Bonsdorff var en av Finlands mest framstående läkare på 1800-talet. Som professor i anatomi och fysiologi skapade han en skola på internationell nivå för studier av jämförande anatomi och etablerade en anmärkningsvärd anatomisk samling för universitetet (Finlands Nationalbiografi).
