    London, John Booth, 1814. First edition. 4to. Hardcover. Maroon cloth with leather spine. XXI, (3), 388 pages. Illustrated with 1 engraved frontispiece, 8 engraved maps and 3 folding engraved maps. 2 aquatint views are missing and have been replaced with copies.

     

    Good overall condition. The leather spine is worn and chipped from the bottom. Some foxing at the beginning and at the end. Two aquatints missing.

    Lysianski was the commanding officer of merchant sloop Neva that took part in the first Russian circumnavigation of the Earth. During the voyage Neva visited Easter Islands, the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii), Sitka in Alaska, Canton and Chinese Seas before returning back to Cronstadt, Russia.
